Bell House Community Build

In October 2021, we launched the Bell House Community Build, a mutual aid initiative that centers an individual in our community, Ms. Bell. Ms. Bell is a valued member of our community in Greenmount West, and has been a homeowner here for almost thirty years. Her home has fallen into a state of disrepair, and, for the last three years, she has been living in unsafe and unhealthy housing conditions. We are collaborating with individuals and organizations who are able to donate their time, funds, or skills, contribute sweat equity, and/or make in-kind contributions in order to fully renovate Ms. Bell’s home and help her age in place with dignity and grace.

Want to get involved with the Bell House Community Build? We need all hands on deck! Fill out this mutual aid form if you’d like to donate your time and skills, and click the donate button below if you’d like to make a monetary contribution. Donations of any amount will help us reach our goal of restoring Ms. Bell’s home.

Thanks for your support!

Mural Maestros

Mural Maestros is a program designed to mentor youth interested in fine arts and community engagement.  Participants will work as apprentices to lead artists on a real public art project in their neighborhood.  During this, our pilot year of the program, we will be working with our youth to produce artwork for the Bell House Community Build; the end result: a colorful multi media mural installed on the side of the Bell House at the culmination of the project.  Subjects explored throughout the program include the basics of community organizing, studio practice, collaborative making, portfolio development, and more.  In addition to gaining substantial professional skills to take with them into the future, apprentice artists will receive a stipend upon the successful completion of the program.
